Edriel Knight Ausley, age 86, of Warsaw, passed away on Thursday, May 14 at the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield. Born in Person County on March 21, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Bert Bryan Knight, Sr. and Margaret Ethel Daniel Knight. Mrs. Ausley was also preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Mett Bagley Ausley, Sr.
Mrs. Ausley was a long time member of the Warsaw Baptist Church where she served in the role of choir director and accompanist for 20 years. She was a former member of the Duplin County Arts Council, the Mental Health Board of Directors, and a member of Liberty Hall in Kenansville. In her leisure time, she was a member of the Warsaw Home Gardeners Club and various bridge clubs. She was an avid amateur artist, and after the death of her husband, she spent many years enjoying national Amateur Ballroom Dance competitions.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 11:00 AM in the Warsaw Baptist Church with burial following in Devotional Gardens in Warsaw. The family will receive friends at the church on Sunday from 4 to 6 PM. Surviving are her son, Dr. Mett “Chip” Bagley Ausley, Jr. of Lake Waccamaw; her daughter Margaret Ausley Hinnant and husband, Will, of Smithfield; and her grandson Daniel Ausley Hinnant.
