Phillip Lawrence Moody, 84, passed away Monday evening, May 11, 2015 at Rex Healthcare. He was born December 20, 1930 in Wake County to the late Robert Leroy Moody and Ruby Medlin Moody. Phillip graduated from Rolesville High School in 1949 and married Mildred Boyette September 17, 1955. He retired from IBM after 27 years of dedicated service. After retirement he continued to farm and was known for his sweet potatoes and watermelons. He was a devoted member of Bethany Baptist Church, serving as a Deacon, Chairman of the Deacons and his important responsibility as Caretaker of the cemetery, making sure all graves were correctly marked. His knowledge will be greatly missed.
Funeral service 11:00 am, Friday, May 15, 2015 at Bethany Baptist Church, 3417 Rolesville Rd., Wendell, 27591. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
The family will receive relatives and friends after the service in the Family Life Center and other times at the Moody home, 1725 Rolesville Rd., Wake Forest, 27587.
Surviving: wife, Mildred Boyette Moody; sons: Benny Moody and his wife Connie of Wake Forest, Jeffrey Moody and his wife Cindy of Raleigh, Allen Moody and his wife Terri of Wake Forest; grandchildren: Jeff Green, Jeremy Moody, Alissa Moody, John Robert Green, James Moody (Stephanie), Christopher Moody, Jordan Moody, Jared Moody, Allena Moody, Rachel Moody; great-grandson, Preston Smilack; brother, Elmo Moody of Wake Forest.
