Dixie Glover Poteat, 82, passed away Thursday, May 21, 2015 at her home in Raleigh. She was born December 22, 1932 in Nash County to the late Richard E. Glover and Bonnie Strickland Glover. She graduated from Bailey High School in 1951, while in high school she played basketball. After she graduated, she worked with Durham Life and ITT. She was a hospital volunteer. She loved playing golf and a lover of flowers and gardening.
Funeral service 4:00 pm, Sunday, May 24, 2015 at Mount Vernon Baptist Church, 7600 Falls of Neuse Rd, Raleigh, NC 27615. Burial will follow at Mount Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery, 11610 Durant Rd., Raleigh, 27614. The family will received relatives and friends prior to the service at Mount Vernon Baptist Church from 3:00 to 3:45 pm and other times at the home.
Surviving: husband, William “Bill” Thomas Poteat, whom she married on January 27, 1959; son, David Michael Poteat (Kim) of Raleigh; daughter, Donna Lynn Poteat of Raleigh; grandchildren: Ashley, Doug and Will Poteat; brother, Danny Glover (Evelyn) of Sims; sister, Dianne G. McKinney of Washington, NC; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Flowers are accepted or contributions may be made in Dixie’s memory to Mount Vernon Baptist Church.
