Anna Liland was the daughter of Alan D. and Carol Kolb Greene of Cary, NC, and Ira A. Scott of New Bern, NC. She was born a tiny package of determination who quickly displayed a love of life and adventure that only increased over the years. She grew to be a strong woman of God who faced breast cancer as a fierce warrior, but always faithful to share the loving message of Jesus Christ and the wonder of the Cross.
Anna graduated from University High in Johnson City, TN, and with degrees from both East Carolina University and Wake Tech Nursing School, set out to change the world. She was the RN on a Vision Quest Wagon Train (really!), a program for repeat juvenile offenders. Anna then lived on a sailboat docked in Baltimore's Inner Harbor while working in the Neuro ICU at Johns Hopkins Hospital. Fittingly, Anna then signed on as a contract travel nurse and served patients and their families in several NC hospitals, primarily in Neuro ICU units.
Her greatest adventure began August 10, 2010 when she married David Kalor Liland, also gaining the sons of her heart, Nathan and Zachary. Their marriage was short in calendar years, but without measure in vitality and scope.
In addition to her parents, husband, and heart sons, Anna is survived by her sister, Rachel and husband Billy Carr and their children Liam and Evie of Garner; brother, Justin Greene of Cary; parental in-laws Bob and Ellie Liland of New Bern; sister-in-law Kelly and husband Greg Clark and their daughters Katie and Emily of New Bern, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Never miss a local story.
