Timothy Whitman Casey, 51 years of age, went on to be with the Lord surrounded by the people who loved him most, on June 7, 2015.
Tim was born on November 22, 1963 in Smithfield North Carolina. This was the day that John F Kennedy was assassinated. People said that was the day one great man died, and another great man was born. Tim’s life proved this to be true.
Tim graduated from Smithfield-Selma High School in 1982 and joined the United States Army, where he served in the 82nd Airborne Division. While in the 82nd Airborne Division, Tim earned his wings here on earth, a prestigious accomplishment reserved only for the best. He survived 2 severe parachute accidents and was honorably discharged in 1990.
On August 2, 1986 he married Mary Lou Wall who became his lifelong love. They had 2 children, Mary LeeAnn Casey and Joshua Whitman Casey, and 1 grandchild Brody. He was a protective and loving father who provided for his family owning his own business as a small engine, automobile, and heavy equipment mechanic. He was a man of his word and always operated his business as a square deal. He trained his son Joshua and left him possessing a good trade to carry on his legacy in Casey Engine Repair.
Never miss a local story.
He is survived by his wife Mary, children LeeAnn and Joshua, grandchild Brody, his mother Edith Lee Casey, brothers Matthew and Christopher, sister Julee, and his loyal loving dog Dixie. Tim is remembered for his quick wit and always cracking a timely joke. And everyone soon learned, NEVER pull his finger. Tim never met a stranger, and we will never truly know how many lives he touched. In the US Army only the best get their wings. Last Sunday, just after midnight, Tim really got his wings.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Parrish Funeral Home. A graveside service, with military honors, will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday in the Casey Family Cemetery, near his home, with Elder Tony Parker officiating.
