William Dewey Lambert, 68, of Benson, passed away on June 8, 2015, at home following renal failure due to cancer.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 11, 2015, at Johnson Memorial Church, Hwy 50 N, Angier, followed by burial at the Johnson Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday night, at West and Dunn Funeral Home, in Benson. Pastor Chris Searles and Rev Leon Tart will be officiating. William was born November 14, 1946, to the late Dewey and Pearl Lovick Lambert of Benson. William graduated from Benson High School in 1965.
William was married to Janice Parrish on June 30, 1968. They were married 46 years. William operated Lambert TV and Communications in Benson for several years, and was chief operator for 13 area AM radio stations before he retired. He was a member of the NC National Guard for 9 years, and was a member of the Benson Fire Department for 33 years. He was founder of the Johnston Amateur Radio Society. William was a member of Johnson Memorial Church of NC 50 North, Angier. His great passion in life was ham radio and the New York Yankees.
William is survived by his wife, Janice, son Scott and wife Karen Holley Lambert: two granddaughters, Alli and Hannah Lambert, all of the Cleveland community: brother, Henry Lambert of Benson, and sister, Mary and husband Jeff Rosenquist, of Archer’s Lodge.
