Gertrude Davis died July 3, 2015 at her home in Greenville, SC.
Mrs. Davis was born January 3, 1918, in Raleigh, NC to Norman and Beulah Ferrell Hicks. She lived most of her life in Raleigh, working as an office manager while going to college, until her marriage to Horace Davis. Together they built a home, business, and farm and reared a daughter. Later she worked for the North Carolina public school system in food service.
Mrs. Davis was an avid animal lover. She nurtured many domestic and wild animals, some of which were injured. She supported two no-kill shelters, one for horses and one for all animals.
She is survived by her daughter, Judith Davis and was predeceased by her husband. In lieu of services and flowers, she requested donations be made to the animal shelter in her name.
