Danny Joe Yates, 66, of Greenville, passed away on Sunday, July 12, 2015. Born in Kannapolis, NC, he was the son of the late Rev. Joseph Calvin and Doris Phillips Yates.
Mr. Yates graduated with a B.S. in Pharmacy from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1971. He was an avid fisherman, loved all forms of racing, and was a strong advocate for preserving North Carolina’s Core Sound Waterfowl heritage. He retired as Vice President of Professional Services with Neil Medical of Kinston.
Survivors include his wife, Lisa Carol O’Neal Yates of the home; daughter, Kelly Yates Sokolowski and husband Kurt of Raleigh; sons, Joseph Kevin Yates and wife Leslie of Raleigh and Brady Johnson and fiancé Lindsey Lumpkin of Greenville; grandchildren, James Sokolowski, Grace Sokolowski, and Vivian Yates; brothers, Donnie Yates and wife Carolyn of Lexington, NC and Dennis Yates and wife Pat of Richmond, VA; Aunt Dorothy and Uncle J. W. Ragan and Uncle Ray Yates, all of Kannapolis; along with numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at Howard-Carter Funeral Home and other times at the home. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at the Funeral Home.
