Anne Keller Parrish died peacefully on May 4, 2015. Born November 7, 1926 in Andalusia, AL, she was the second daughter and child of James Albert Keller and Mariglynn Cornelius.
Anne married and later divorced John William Parrish, whom she met while attending Florence State Teachers College in Florence, AL. Following her divorce, Anne settled in Chapel Hill in 1957 with three young children to raise by herself. She worked at the UNC Anatomy Department while attending the University of North Carolina, where she earned a Masters Degree in Social Work.
Anne devoted her life to helping troubled adolescent children. She worked at Wright School in Durham for several years and at John Umstead Hospital as a Psychiatric Social Worker for 30 years before retiring in 1997. She also worked as a co-therapist in family therapy private practice. Anne had numerous accreditations and was greatly respected and admired by her peers and patients.
A memorial service was held for Anne on May 24, 2015, at Walker's Funeral Home in Chapel Hill, and a gathering followed for family and close friends at the Franklin Hotel.
Anne is survived by her three children Cassanda Parrish Swing of Chapel Hill, John Cornelius Parrish of Philadelphia, PA, and John Richard Parrish of Chapel Hill; and two grandchildren Gresham Keller Parrish and Sander Camp Parrish of Chapel Hill.
