Nina Britt Joyner, 94, of the Grantham Community, was called home on Tuesday, July 28, 2015 to the loving arms of Jesus Christ her Lord while surrounded by her family.
Nina was born in Wayne County on March 18, 1921 to the late Louis Robert Britt and Sally Lee Britt. She was married for 63 years to Willie Mintz Joyner, who preceded her in death on September 21, 1999. Nina worked in the Wayne County School System for a number of years.
Nina’s life was filled with humility, kindness and a love for others that she displayed every time she smiled. She dedicated her life to serving her family unselfishly and to serving her Lord. Nina was the oldest member of Eureka Christian Church having been a member for 85 years. She utilized her gifts and abilities in many ways to share the love of God. Nina was always on call to give an encouraging word, bake something or give a helping hand. Nina raised her children on the farm that she dearly loved and she enjoyed every day on that farm with her family. She loved her vegetable garden and her flower garden more as her yard did always show.
A service celebrating Nina’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 31, 2015 at Eureka Christian Church with Rev. Frank Purvis officiating. Interment will follow in the Britt Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 30, 2015 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the fellowship hall of Eureka Christian Church.
Never miss a local story.
