Ralph Bernard “Bitsy” Green, age 86, died Tuesday night at Duke Regional Hospital.
Born May 1, 1929, Mr. Green was the son of the late Hubert Hickman and Irene Mullen Modelle Green. He attended the Durham County schools, and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the Korean War. He was employed with Monsanto as a machinist and retired from Glaxo Smith Kline. Mr. Green had been a resident of Croasdaile since 2000, and was a member of Cedar Fork Baptist Church. His wife of 50 years, Maxine Markham Green died March 24, 2003. He lovingly cared for her during her illness.
Surviving are two daughters, Vicki Duggins and husband John of Durham, and Penny Cobb and husband Jeff of Raleigh; three sisters, Marguerite Lloyd of Raleigh, Mary Bryant and husband William of Chesapeake, VA, and Carolyn Green of Dataw, Island, SC, and three grandchildren Jeffrey Cobb, Austin Cobb, and Jonathan Duggins. Mr. Green was preceded in death by two brothers, James Ray Green, and Jack Green.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 11:00 AM at Cedar Fork Baptist Church, Rev. Forest Gale officiating. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery.
