Joyce Wilder Whitley, 90, went home to be with the Lord Friday evening surrounded by her family. She was born in Nash County, daughter of the late Clifton T. and Lillian Morgan Wilder. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd A. Whitley, son, Ronnie Floyd Whitley, grandsons, Chris Whitley, Peter and Paul Murray and Kevin Whitley; great-grandson, Eric Kyles; sisters, Juanita Parker and Dot Strickland and a brother, Rotchie Wilder.
Joyce was a loving wife of 70 years, a devoted mother and grandmother to all. She was a farmer’s wife, who also helped in the fields and provided for her family as a great homemaker. She was a faithful member of Middlesex Church of God. Joyce was a Godly Christian woman; who loved the Lord and was praising him until He called her home. She was loved by all and will be missed by many.
The family will receive friends Monday evening, August 17, from 5:30 to 7:15 pm, followed by a service of celebration at 7:30 at Middlesex Church of God Worship Center, NC Hwy 231, Middlesex. Graveside service will be held 11 am Tuesday, August 18, at Oakdale Cemetery in Spring Hope.
