Lou Ellen Webb Poole, age 81 of Zebulon, NC passed away on Tuesday, August 18th at Wake Medical Center. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Lonnie E. Poole, Jr.; parents, Herbert Speight Webb and Ruby Conyers Webb; sisters, Margaret Webb and Marie Causey; brothers, Vernon, Buddy, James; and a granddaughter, Ashlyn B. Poole.
Lou graduated from South Edgecome High School with honors, named Salutorian, Class of 1952. In recognition of her academic achievements, she was awarded a full, four-year scholarship from Campbell College located in Buies Creek.
More than anything, Lou loved to load up the children in the family station wagon and head “to the Country” (Pinetops) to visit her brothers and sisters most every other Sunday.
Lou was employed in various administrative positions over the years, her most important role as Accountant for her husband’s business, Poole’s Refrigeration Co. in Zebulon. She retired as a Medical Clerk in the Emergency Room at Wake Medical Center, Raleigh.

She is survived by her children, Vickie, Tony, Joy, Greg, Gary and wife Magda. She has six grandchildren, Luke, Lyle and wife, Amanda, Stacey, Ian, Alicia and two great grandchildren, Jordan and Peyton. She is also survived by her sisters, Ruby and husband, “Tiny” Craft of Tarboro; Kitty Pollard of Henderson; a brother, Davis and wife, Helen of Kinston and her best friend since 2nd grade, Deany Walston of Rocky Mount.
A private memorial service will be held at the Hagwood Farm in Zebulon, Pastor Don Lee Causey of Pinetops, her nephew, officiating.
