Henry Ajax Walker III of Wilmington, North Carolina died on August 15, 2015 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice. Born on January 4, 1934 to Mr. and Mrs. Henry Ajax Walker in Kinston, North Carolina, he is survived by three sisters, Nancy Walker Marchal of Williamsport, PA, Grace Walker Sanders of Wilmington, North Carolina, and Ida Thames Walker Cranz of Henderson, N.C. Two nieces and six nephews also survive. He attended Kinston schools and graduated from Grainger High School in 1952, followed by college graduation from The University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill in 1956, where he enjoyed being a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity. Henry remained close throughout his life to high school and college classmates.
He worked briefly at Liggett-Myers Tobacco Company in Durham, N.C. Later he moved to Greensboro, where he was co-owner and administrator of Countryside Manor, a nursing home in Stokesdale. After retirement he moved to Wilmington in 1999.
Left to cherish Henry's memory are many people who loved him for his kind heart, his generosity, his loyalty, and his loving spirit.
A graveside service celebrating Henry's life will be held at Westview Cemetery in Kinston at 11:00 am on August 21, 2015. The Reverend Doctor Wanda Neely of The First Presbyterian Church will officiate at the service.
