Martha Louise Pearce Champion, 79, went home to her Lord on Monday. A native of Franklin County, she was daughter to the late Roger Pearce & Annie Tant Rich. She spent her life caring for and as mother to over 100 foster children for Wake County Human Services for over 25 years. Mrs. Champion was a member of The Church of God of Royal. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Licia Joan Champion, siblings Gaston Pearce, Rufus Pearce, Zannie Horton, & son-in-law, Curtis Stillwell.
Funeral service 11 a.m. Thursday, Strickland Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Perry Cemetery.
She is survived by her husband, Joe Champion of the home, daughters, Tracy Champion, Christine Collier, both of Zebulon, Tricia Stillwell of Youngsville, Ernestine Pridgen of Youngsville, siblings, Norman Pearce of Louisburg, Tency Penny of Spring Hope, grandchildren, Rodney Collier, Chad Collier, Steve Joyner, Jerry Joyner, Bradley Williams, Karen Adkins, Missy Wright, Kimly Hart, 13 great grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren, & 6 step great grandchildren.
