Allsbrook, Linwood I., 93, beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and brother-in-law, died peacefully on August 24, 2015 with his family by his side in Louisville, KY.
Born in Hobgood, NC, Lin graduated from Churchland High School in Portsmouth, Virginia and then attended college at William and Mary, Wayne University, the University of Louisville and Purdue University.
Lin married his loving and devoted wife, Elizabeth, in 1968. The two were married 47 happy years.
Lin was a proud World War II veteran serving in the Army Air Force. After leaving the armed services he went to work for Ford Motor Company for 31 years. During his time at Ford he worked in Norfolk, Virginia, Louisville, Kentucky, England and New Jersey. After retiring from Ford Motor Company he and his wife moved to Roanoke Rapids, NC and opened a successful car dealership that he operated for twenty years. After his second retirement Lin and his wife, Elizabeth, returned to Louisville, KY.

Lin enjoyed the game of golf but boating was his passion. He was a member of Cedar Point Country Club in Suffolk, VA, the South Carolina Yacht Club in Hilton Head, and he cruised the James River to Williamsburg, VA many times. Lin was a member of the Masons for thirty-five years attaining 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason. Lin was also an avid traveler having made it around the world. He was an avid sports fan and did not miss many Duke games. Above all, Lin cherished the companionship of his wife and family. The world will be less special without him and his wife will dearly miss her best friend.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife Elizabeth, his son Dr. Lin R. Allsbrook (Dr. Kathi Gray), his cherished grandson James Allsbrook, his granddaughter Wesley, and numerous brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.
Lin was preceded in death by his parents, Lena and Joseph Allsbrook and brothers, Joseph and Raymond.
His funeral service will be at 1:00 pm, Thursday, August 27, 2015 at Highlands Funeral Home, Louisville, KY. with burial in Cave Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service Thursday.
