Janet Cooper Welanetz, Chapel Hill resident since 1999, died peacefully on August 20 at the Carolina Meadows retirement community (CM). She was 93. A memorial celebration of her life will be held at CM on September 14, and her remains will be interred with her beloved late husband, Peter P. After Peter’s death in 2002, Janet continued to love life as a member of the Winsome Widows and other social groups. She is survived by her two sons and their families: Peter C. and Barbara Welanetz, 2612 W Knox St, Durham, NC; and grandson Kristopher; and Robert F. and Karen Welanetz, 4700 Jett Rd NW, Atlanta, GA, and grandsons Colby, Jack and Parker.
