ONLINE: In the class, African-American History and Culture on the Internet, participants will learn how to research and study African-American history and culture online using the Sonja Haynes Stone Center for Black Culture and History Web guide, which contains links to more than 1,000 online resources. Students will leave the class knowing how to quickly locate information about African-Americans in history and popular culture, from state or regional histories to slave narratives. 2 p.m. Saturday, Durham Main Library, 300 N. Roxboro St., Durham. Free. Call Janet or Jennifer to register, 560-0125.

SCHOOL INTEGRATION: The Smithfield-Selma Alumni Association will host speaker Rhonda Joy McLean, a Smithfield native featured in the February issue of Essence Magazine. McLean gives a compelling account to Essence of being one of three black girls chosen to integrate Smithfield High School in the 1960s. A Yale graduate, she is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John W. McLean of Smithfield, both retired educators in the Johnston County school system. She is currently associate general counsel for Time Inc. in New York. 2 p.m. Saturday, First Missionary Baptist Church, 403 Caswell St., Smithfield. Free. For information about the event or the association, call Theresa MacDonald, 272-8580, or send e-mail to triplesalumni@gmail.com.
