Nimble Storage, a San Jose, Calif.-based storage company, has leased 47,986 square feet in the Newcastle South building in Durham’s Imperial Center.
The building is owned by Grubb Properties and Rubenstein Partners, which paid $4 million to acquire the Newcastele South and Newcastle North buildings from GlaxoSmithKline in 2012.
The joint venture has since sold Newcastle North to Capital Square Holdings, a Virginia real estate firm. Newcastle South still has 38,965 square feet for lease.
Grubb and Rubenstein have been among the most active buyers of office and research space in the Research Triangle Park area in recent years. Last year, Rubenstein paid $26 million for the former corporate campus of Sony Ericsson in RTP.
Never miss a local story.
Lenovo has since committed to occupy both office buildings on the old Ericsson campus, which combined contain 450,000 square feet. The campus is to house employees from IBM’s low-end server business unit, which Lenovo is in the process of acquiring.
