Mohu, the Raleigh maker of HDTV antennas, announced that several of its products are now being sold in 513 Best Buy stores nationwide.
“It’s going to increase our visibility in the brick-and-mortar area,” said Mark Buff, founder and president of the 60-employee company. “We expect sales to be significant.”
Mohu HDTV antennas also can be purchased from Best Buy’s website.
The prices of the four antennas being sold in Best Buy stores range from $24.99 to $149.99.
Founded in 2009 based on research conducted at N.C. State University, Mohu began selling HDTV antennas in mid-2011 and has sold more than 1.5 million to date, Buff said.
Last year the company’s sales doubled, Buff said.
In addition to Best Buy stores, the company’s antennas are sold in more than 4,000 Wal-Mart, Sam’s Club and Fry’s Electronics stores. They’re also sold online by Amazon, where they rank first in HDTV antenna sales, Buff said.
Best Buy is testing how well the antennas sell in select stores, Buff said, and could expand sales to all of its 1,053 U.S. stores if they do well.
