A Michigan-based food services company plans to build a distribution center in Cabarrus County and create 275 jobs over the next five years.
Gov. Pat McCrory’s office announced Monday that Gordon Food Service will invest $58 million building the new facility in Kannapolis. The company is eligible to receive a $500,000 grant from the One North Carolina Fund if it meets hiring and investment milestones. The grant requires a local match.
Gordon, a privately held company based in Grand Rapids, distributes too food service operators in the Midwest, Northeast, Southeast and Southwest regions of the U.S. and in Canada. The Kannapolis facility will be the company’s first in North Carolina.
The average salary for the new jobs is expected to be $44,727. The Cabarrus County average is $34,285.
