Raleigh investment firm Triangle Capital's net investment income declined 8 percent to $15.4 million in the third quarter.
Net investment income per share was 51 cents, compared with 61 cents a year ago.
Triangle Capital makes loans to midsize, privately owned businesses; it also takes a minority ownership stake in its portfolio companies.
Triangle Capital made a record $180.8 million in new investments in the quarter.
As of Sept. 30, the company had $84 million in cash and $154.2 million in borrowing capacity under its credit facility.
Triangle Capital shares closed Wednesday at $25.44, up 13 cents. Its shares have fallen 7 percent this year.
