Parata Systems, a Durham-based company that makes robotic pharmacy equipment, is laying off 110 people.
The company announced the layoffs in a letter filed earlier this month with the N.C. Department of Commerce.
“We are establishing a smaller, more focused organization to better align with the larger health care market and position us for future growth and new opportunities,” Tom Rhoads, Parata’s CEO, said in a statement. “Parata is a strong company, financially and strategically relevant, giving us a foundation for continued success. We will continue to offer products and services across all market segments focused on health outcomes, reducing health care costs and helping high-risk patients better connect with the care community.”
Parata operates facilites at 2600 Meridian Parkway and 3751 S. Alston Avenue in Durham. Employees affected were notified Dec. 5 and the layoffs are expected to be completed within 90 days.
Parata expects to have about 250 total employees as of March 1. That includes employees in Durham and those operating in the field.
