BioDelivery Sciences International has named industry veteran Ernest R. De Paolantonio as chief financial officer.

De Paolantonio has been the CFO of CorePharma, a privately owned generic drug company based in New Jersey with more than 300 employees, for the past five years. He began his career at GlaxoSmithKline, where he worked more than 17 years, and also has worked at other drug companies.

Raleigh-based BioDelivery said that it plans to take advantage of De Paolantonio’s expertise in drug manufacturing and other commercialization functions. BioDelivery has one drug on the market and in August submitted a new drug application for Bunavail, a treatment for people who are dependent on opioids such as morphine, methadone and oxycodone.
