E-commerce technology company ChannelAdvisor has appointed Diana Semel Allen, a veteran of LED lighting company Cree, as vice president and general counsel.

“Being a newly public company, it is essential that we have superior legal leadership to oversee all regulatory matters on a global scale,” CEO Scott Wingo said in a statement released by the company, which is headquartered in Morrisville.

Allen joined Durham-based Cree in 2005 and served as associate general counsel, assistant secretary and compliance director. Prior to that she was a corporate attorney with Raleigh law firm Helms Mulliss & Wicker.

Allen received her undergraduate degree from Columbia University and her law degree from Duke University School of Law.

ChannelAdvisor provides technology that enables retailers to integrate and manage their online sales across a multitude of sales channels, including the likes of eBay, Amazon, and Sears. Its more than 2,000 manufacturing and retailing customers include Dell, Lenovo, Ann Taylor and Jos. A. Bank Clothiers.

Channel Advisor shares closed Wednesday at $42.36, down 64 cents. The company went public in May at $14 per share.
