A Florida-based ownership group has acquired the Blue Ridge Health Care Center, a nursing home in West Raleigh, for $10.5 million, according to property records.
West Coast Commonwealth Partners and several other entities and individuals acquired the center at 3830 Blue Ridge Road from CareOne, a New Jersey long-term care provider.
The ownership group includes Eugene Rensch, who serves on the board of Traditions Senior Management, a Clearwater, Fla.-based company that owns senior living facilities in Virginia and Iowa.
Blue Ridge Health Care Center was forced to lay off about 90 workers in 2012 after it briefly lost its Medicare and Medicaid funding because of conditions at the facility. In addition to the suspension from the aid programs, federal officials imposed a $4,550-a-day civil penalty from March 16 through April 26 of that year.
