The market for information technology jobs across North Carolina rose 2.6 percent in April, according to the latest report from the N.C. Technology Association.

Demand for IT workers in the high-tech, information technology services and defense sectors drove the increase.

After bottoming out earlier this year, demand for IT jobs has begun to rise. “The next months could bring more positive change as the IT job market begins to catch up with the general job market,” the report states.

However, the 3,110 IT job openings posted in April was down 21 percent from a year ago and 44 percent from two years ago.

IT job postings nationwide rose 7.3 percent in April.

The NCTA report is prepared by SkillPROOF, which focuses on job market data and research.
