PNC Bank has named a new regional president for its Eastern Carolinas market to replace Paula Fryland, who has been promoted to regional president of the bank’s Philadelphia/Southern New Jersey region.
Her successor, who will be based in Raleigh, is Jim Hansen, who has been president of the bank’s Northern Alabama region the past four years.
It will be Hansen’s second stint in Raleigh.
He previously held leadership roles in Raleigh at RBC Bank, which was acquired by Pittsburgh-based PNC two years ago, from 2001 to 2010. Hansen grew up in Winston-Salem and graduated from both N.C. State University and UNC-Chapel Hill’s Kenan-Flagler School of Business.
Fryland, who started her 25-year career with PNC in Philadelphia, has headed the Eastern Carolinas region since PNC acquired RBC in 2012. In Philadelphia she is replacing long-time bank veteran Bill Mills, who is retiring.
