Raleigh investment firm Triangle Capital's net investment income fell 14.5 percent in the third quarter.
Triangle Capital reported after the markets closed Wednesday that its net investment income totaled $15.8 million, down from $18.5 million a year ago. Net investment income per share was 42 cents, versus 56 cents a year ago.
The company invested $88 million during the quarter. As of Sept. 30, it had $168.3 million in cash plus $208.6 million of borrowing capacity under a senior credit facility.
Shares of Triangle Capital were trading at $18.10, down 63 cents, Thursday afternoon. The company’s shares have fallen 5 percent this year.
Triangle Capital makes loans to midsized, privately owned businesses. It also takes a minority ownership stake in its portfolio companies. Its investment portfolio was valued at $947.7 million as of Sept. 30.
