A second airline has announced that it will begin nonstop flights from Raleigh-Durham International Airport to Kansas City in the second week of April.
Southwest Airlines said Tuesday that it will begin daily nonstops between the two regions on April 8. Frontier Airlines had previously announced that it would begin nonstop flights four days a week between RDU and Kansas City on April 9.
Southwest is the third low-cost airline to announce new service from RDU in the past week. Frontier announced last week that it would add six new nonstop flights, including RDU’s only nonstops to four cities: Buffalo, Milwaukee, San Antonio and San Juan, Puerto Rico. Then on Tuesday, Allegiant Airlines announced it will fly twice weekly from RDU to Destin-Fort Walton Beach Airport starting June 8.
Kansas City will be the 15th nonstop destination from RDU for Southwest Airlines, putting it in a second place tie with Frontier in terms of destinations at the airport. Delta is No. 1 with 25 destinations.
