Jim Goetz, an uber-successful venture capitalist ranked as the top venture investor by Forbes for the past two years, will be a featured speaker at the upcoming CED Tech Venture Conference.
CED, a Triangle-based support group for entrepreneurs, announced Thursday that Goetz, a partner at Silicon Valley venture capital firm Sequoia Capital, has been slated for the conference. The conference is schedued for September 15-16 at the Raleigh Convention Center.
According to Forbes, Goetz spearheaded Seqouia’s investment in mobile messaging company WhatsApp, which Facebook acquired for $22 billion.
Goetz “struck gold, returning more than $3 billion to Sequoia,” according to Forbes.

Companies backed by Goetz that went public include HubSpot, Barracuda Networks, Nimble Storage, Ruckus Wireless and Palo Alto Networks.
Sequoia boasts on its website that companies that it has backed “are now worth over 20 percent of the total value of the NASDAQ stock exchange.”
