Lenoir Memorial Hospital in Kinston has entered into exclusive negotiations with UNC Health Care to create a management services agreement between the two health care providers.
Lenoir’s Board of Directors hopes to finalize the details of the agreement in April, the 261-bed hospital announced in a news release this week.
Under such an agreement, UNC would provide legal, clinical and other professional consulting and management services.
UNC currently currently provides management services to Wayne Memorial Hospital in Goldsboro, Nash Health Care in Rocky Mount and to Pardee Hospital in Hendersonville. UNC also has a joint venture with Johnston Health in Smithfield.
The deal between Lenoir and UNC will not involve any sale or exchange of assets, the parties said, and no job cuts are expected to result from the agreement.
