Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina said it is temporarily unable to process claims due to a computer problem.
The state’s largest health insurer said in a statement issued Thursday that it is “experiencing a technical issue that directly affects our claims processing and customer service systems.”
The insurer said the restoration process has begun but will take 48 hours to complete.
In the interim, Blue Cross says customers should continue to seek medical attention as needed and they will be covered by their plan.
