Kroger takeover of Harris Teeter is official

It’s a done deal, Harris Teeter shoppers. The purchase of the Matthews chain by Kroger is complete. My colleague in Charlotte, Ely Portillo writes:

The purchase of the Matthews chain by Kroger is complete.

My colleague in Charlotte, Ely Portillo writes:

Cincinnati-based Kroger Co. said Wednesday that it has officially closed its acquisition of homegrown supermarket company Harris Teeter, which is now a subsidiary of the Kroger conglomerate.

Although Harris Teeter will keep its Matthews offices, its name and a degree of autonomy following the $2.5 billion deal, two high-ranking executives at Harris Teeter are leaving the company...

While Kroger has promised Harris Teeter autonomy, nothing has been said about coupon policies and special coupon events, which have been a mainstay of Harris Teeter marketing but have all but dried up at Kroger stores.
