Show Dad a little love -- and show him a little financial savvy while you’re at it -- by taking advantage of all the freebies and discounts offered this weekend in honor of Father’s Day.

Here’s a list of freebies and promotions in the Triangle to help get you started:

O2 Fitness wants to give dads their turn in the gym with free workouts over Father’s Day weekend, starting on Friday, June 13. All 10 O2 Fitness gyms in the Triangle plus the two in Wilmington are offering unlimited access to their equipment and group exercise classes through Sunday. Dads eat (and drink!) free on Father’s Day at Tijuana Flats. He’ll get a free taco and a free beer. No purchase necessary, according to the Tijuana Flats Facebook page, but you will need an ID for the beer.

Now through Father’s Day, reserve a movie or game on Redbox and get 50 cents off the rental of a second DVD. Details are at http://www.redbox.com/fathersday

Dads bowl a game free at Buffaloe Lanes on Sunday with every paid game bowled by a child or family member. Dad’s shoe rental is free, too. Details on buffaloelanes.com.

Dad eats free on Father’s Day at PDQ restaurants with the purchase of a kid’s meal. Dads will have their choice of a 3-piece tenders, sandwich or salad combo.

Michaels craft stores are hosting make-and-take craft sessions on Saturday in celebration of Father’s Day. For $2, kids can make a picture frame for their dads. Or purchase a T-shirt at Michaels, and the kids can tie-dye a shirt with Dad. The sessions are 30 minutes and are geared to kids ages 3 and up. Check with your closest store for times and details.
