Small Business Majority launched a campaign this week asking small-business owners to pledge to create jobs for young people.
The initiative seeks to help bridge the gap between youth who are out of school and out of work and small businesses having a hard time filling entry-level positions. The initiative includes free webinars offered today and Oct. 23. The webinars discuss how youth employment affects the economy, and how owners can incorporate young employees, internships and jobs shadow programs into their work day.
Nearly five years have passed since the end of the Great Recession, but 6 million young Americans are unemployed, according to Small Business Majority, a national business advocacy organization. Meanwhile, small businesses are struggling to fill job vacancies.
