PITTSBORO - Pittsboro residents today will vote in a special election to decide the last open seat on the Town Board of Commissioners.

In November, Hugh Harrington finished six votes ahead of Michele Berger to win the third and last open seat, but 17 voters received the wrong ballots, with some county residents getting town ballots and vice versa.

The State Board of Elections determined those irregularities could have affected the outcome and authorized the new election in December.
