CHAPEL HILL -- Chapel Hill fire officials said today that a lightning strike caused a blaze that heavily damaged a house at 4000 Sweeten Creek Drive in northern Chapel Hill Sunday night.
No one was home at the time of the blaze, and no one was injured.
Neighbors reported the fire about 8:30 p.m, fire officials said. When firefighters arrived, the second floor and the attic were burning.
Fire officials say lightning struck a pine tree near the house, causing the fire. The electrical system of a neighboring house also was damaged.
