RALEIGH -- A nanny caught on video mishandling two infant twins was convicted of child abuse Thursday.

Stephanie Merrill was baby- sitting two infant sons of Lindsay Addison of Cary when a video camera set up by the Addisons caught images on Feb. 11 of Merrill handling the twins roughly.

Merrill pleaded guilty under an Alford agreement, meaning she didn't admit guilt but acknowledged there was enough evidence to convict her.

She'll have to perform 30 hours of community service and attend an eight-month-long class on caring for children, Addison said. Merrill will also not be allowed to care for children in the immediate future.

Addison's twins turned 1 this month.
