BROADWAY -- Harnett County law officers found a large plot of marijuana Thursday in a wooded area off of McArthur Road.
A total of 30,000 plants were seized with an estimated value of $72 million. The plants ranged in size from 1 foot to 6 feet, according to a news release from the sheriff's office.
This was an elaborate operation, the release said. Officers found numerous items that were used to water, fertilize and protect the plants from animals and insects, the release said.
There were two camp sites with food, personal items, cooking supplies and tents. No suspects were found despite an extensive air and ground search.
