CHAPEL HILL - UNC-Chapel Hill officials on Friday sent an e-mail alert after three students reported robberies near campus.

According to the warning, one student was hit in the face in a robbery on the 200 block of Vance Street. Two people wearing bandannas took his wallet, phone and cash. Witnesses said the robbers fled in a late-model silver Mercury.

Also, two students in the 300 block of West Cameron Avenue were robbed at gunpoint by a man wearing a bandanna, dark pants and a hoodie, the alert said.

Both incidents happened between 1:30 and 2:30 Friday morning, the UNC-CH Emergency Warning Committee said. No one was seriously injured.

Chapel Hill police are investigating, and anyone with information is urged to call Chapel Hill-Carrboro-UNC Crime Stoppers at 942-7515. Calls can be made anonymously.
