RALEIGH - A Raleigh police officer was charged with DWI early this morning after a state Highway Patrol trooper pulled him over for speeding.Christopher M. Harmon, 31, was riding a Harley Davidson motorcycle at 1:55 a.m. on Glenwood Avenue near Interstate 440. The trooper who pulled Harmon over clocked him going 66 mph in a 45 mph zone, according to the arrest warrant.The trooper reported that he detected the strong order of an alcoholic beverage on Harmon's breath and that Harmon had "glassy eyes" and "mush mouthed speech," according to the arrest warrant.A breath test indicated that Harmon had a blood-alcohol level of 0.11, court documents said. The presumed level of intoxication is 0.08 under state law.Harmon was charged with DWI, speeding and operating a motorcycle without a proper license. He was released from the Wake County Jail on a written promise to appear in court next month.Raleigh police spokesman Jim Sughrue said the department had no comment on Harmon's arrest.
