RALEIGH -- A cheerleader at Wake Christian Academy was arrested Monday on felony drug charges after a state ABC officer searched her BMW and found the prescription drugs hydrocodone and oxycodone.
Hunter Ashton Johnson, 16, of 833 Seastone St., Raleigh, faces charges of possession with intent to sell and deliver the drugs, as well as maintaining a place for controlled substances. She was released after posting $10,000 bond.
Authorities worked with a confidential informant, ABC officer Scott Broadwell said in an affidavit to obtain a warrant to search Johnson's car. The informant told investigators that Johnson was selling the drugs and reported seeing her with a variety of pills, including Xanax, hydrocodone, Oxycontin and Percoset in plastic baggies, Broadwell said in the affidavit.
The informant used a drug identification chart to identify pills obtained from Hunter, according to the affidavit. The informant told investigators that Hunter said the pills were hydrocodone and Oxycontin. But an SBI agent determined that the so-called Oxycontin pill actually was Demerol, another prescription drug, Broadwell said in the affidavit.
The search of Johnson's car took place Thursday with Johnson's consent. Authorities seized 20 oxycodone pills, 14 hydrocodone pills, a can of Purple Suave hair spray and $139, according to an inventory.
