CARY - An Apex teen walking home from a party Saturday forced his way into a home in an affluent Cary neighborhood, beat a man and woman and then raped the woman, police said.Gavin John Clevesy, 17, of 311 Milky Way Drive, was charged with five felonies, including first- degree rape and first-degree kidnapping, Capt. Mike Williams of the Cary Police Department said.Clevesy had apparently been drinking at a party before walking through the MacGregor Downs neighborhood just before 9 p.m., Williams said. He knocked on the door of a home, and when a man inside unlocked the deadbolt, Clevesy kicked in the door. He began beating the man, who is in his 60s, Williams said.Clevesy then assaulted the victim's wife, also in her 60s, Williams said, at one point using a statue.The woman ran outside, but Clevesy chased her, beat her again and then raped her, Williams said.Clevesy began to drag her by a leg. As he did, a group of people who had been attending a wedding reception at the nearby MacGregor Downs Country Club grabbed the teenager and held him until police arrived, Williams said.Other charges against Clevesy include burglary and felony sexual offense. He was being held Sunday night in Wake County jail in lieu of $2.5 million bail.A man who answered the phone at Clevesy's home Sunday night declined to comment.Clevesy's criminal record includes a conviction for hit and run in 2007 and for communicating threats in April. In June, he was charged with possession of marijuana, which led to a conviction for disorderly conduct.(News researcher Brooke Cain contributed to this report.)
