RALEIGH - Police are searching a man who robbed a thrift shop in West Raleigh late Monday morning. No injuries were reported.

The robbery occurred about 11:30 a.m. at the DSS Quality Thrift Store at 5655 E. Western Blvd., Jim Sughrue, a Raleigh police spokesman said this afternoon.

Police said a man wearing a gray hat underneath a gray, hooded jacket walked into the business and approached a clerk at the counter.

The man implied he had a weapon while demanding money. The clerk consented to the demand and the bandit fled the store on foot, Sughrue said.

The man is described as an African-American male who stands about 5-feet-7. He has a medium complexion and weighs between 140 pounds and 160 pounds. In addition to the gray hat and hooded, the man was wearing dark pants, police reported. Investigators did not provide other distinguishing features about the man such his age, manner of speaking or hair style.

Police are urging anyone with information about the man or the robbery to call the Raleigh Police Department at 919-890-3555.
