RALEIGH -- Police used fingerprints and a photo to identify a 28-year-old man shot and killed during an attempted robbery of a West Raleigh grocery, according to records made public today.

Ramiro Bernal of 1124 Gregg St., Raleigh, was one of three armed men who tried to rob Tienda Hispana Mi Barrio II on Oct. 2, police say. Bernal died in an exchange of gunfire with a store clerk, police think.

In a news release, a police spokesman said the man's full name was Bernal Ramiro Miguel Parral, also known as Ramiro Miguel Parral Bernal.

Officers are looking for another man, Raciel Chavez-Mendoza, also of 1124 Gregg St., who they think also was involved in the robbery. Investigators have not identified the third robber.

Officers compared surveillance images of the robbery with those from other holdups in the Triangle, according to a search warrant filed with the Wake Clerk of Court.

Investigators searched the Gregg Street home Oct. 4. They seized two bullets, Bernal's wallet, clothing, cell phones and phone cards from the residence, court records show.
