Teen charged with attempted murder for hammer attack

A Raleigh teenager was accused Tuesday night of striking a woman on the head with a hammer in an attempt to murder her.

Police charged Angelo Dionte Womack, 17, of 829 Campanella Lane, Raleigh, with attempted murder. He was scheduled for a court appearance this morning.

Womack is accused of striking Ariel Tanae Poole with the hammer. Arrest warrants said the act was premeditated and done with malice.
