A man shot by officers after he fled a traffic stop Friday will be charged with several felonies when he is released from WakeMed Raleigh Campus.Raleigh police spokesman Jim Sughrue said late Saturday that Michael Lewis White, 20, will be charged with attempted murder, possession of firearm by convicted felon, going armed to the terror of the public, and resisting, delaying or obstructing a public officer.Shortly after 2 p.m. Friday, Raleigh officers R.L. Boyce and B. Greenwood were on duty in a marked blue and white patrol vehicle when they observed litter being thrown from an SUV traveling on Crosslink Road, police said.The officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop in the vicinity of Crosslink Road and Garner Road. The SUV eventually stopped on Schenley Drive. At that time, one of the passengers, later identified as White, got out of the SUV and began to flee on foot, Sughrue said. Greenwood pursued White, who was armed with a handgun, around the corner onto Swing Court.A short time later, multiple shots were fired. White received nonlife-threatening wounds and was transported to WakeMed, according to police. Greenwood was not injured. The suspect's weapon was recovered.An occupant of the vehicle, Zonte Antonio Jones, was transported to the Wake County jail Friday and charged with resisting, delaying or obstructing an officer, and a probation violation, police said.Bobby Latiff Wright, 27, was transported to the Wake County jail Saturday upon his release from WakeMed. He is charged with littering, driving while license revoked, careless and reckless driving, speeding to elude arrest, and resisting arrest. Wright had been transported to the hospital for medical attention not related to the officer-involved shooting.The fourth occupant of the vehicle was released without being charged.
