From Staff Reports
The state Highway Patrol today identified two people killed Thursday on a motorcycle in Johnston County as Jamal Thomas El-Ferkh, 24, of 1145 Polo Drive, Raleigh, and Brittany Lauren Custer, 18, of 745 Mudham Road, Wendell.
The two died about 8 p.m. when their motorcycle slammed into the side of a pickup truck that was turning left into a private driveway on Jackson King Road in Willow Spring, according to a report by Trooper D.L. Mobley.
The motorcycle was heading south at the time, and the pickup was traveling north. El-Ferkh was driving the motorcycle, and Custer was a passenger.
Another motorcyclist, Tony Matthew Lee Jr., 23, of 7224 Rock Service Station, Raleigh, was injured when he tried to avoid the wreck and laid down his bike, the patrol said. Lee was taken to WakeMed Raleigh campus.
The driver of the 1995 Dodge pickup, Curtis Lloyd Price, 69, of 3309 Jackson King Road, was not injured.
No charges have been filed, but the patrol said its investigation is continuing.
