Man shot while walking in Durham

DURHAM - A man was shot Thursday night as he walked on Horton Road in Durham, police said today.

The man, whom police did not name, was struck in the buttocks. The injury was not considered life-threatening, police said.

The man told police he was walking west on Horton from Thames Avenue when he heard a single gunshot and realized he had been hit.

He walked into the road and flagged down a passing motorist who drove him to Durham Regional Hospital, he told police.

Police said they do not know of a motive or have descriptions of any suspects. Anyone with information is asked to call Durham CrimeStoppers at 683-1200. CrimeStoppers pays cash rewards for information leading to arrests in felony cases, and callers do not have to identify themselves.
